“And all is gone with the wind…”

Picture your first memory, and then imagine it a piece of dandelion fluff in the wind, to be carried off and never thought of again.  Who would want to lose their first memory?  It’s the first; that makes it important.   But a memory is a funny thing; though it’s from the past, it can make or break your future in the blink of an eye.   Good or bad, memories can help a person realize their destiny.

But the greatest feeling is when your past catches up with your present, and you’re in a mental equilibrium.  Isn’t that the most peaceful feeling?  You feel life is infinite, and everything’s in harmony.  There’s no possible way life could be better, right?

Memories shape us, whether good or bad, and without memories, we’d be stuck in a state of being.  Memories let us move on with our lives, and when all is said and done, it’s all gone with the wind, like the air rushing past your hand when you let it hang out the car window.

I spend too much time staring at the sky trying to count the stars, giving them names, or just trying to find as many constellations as I can. But whenever I close my eyes to rest my head, I forget where I was. I got lost. Can’t even remember when memories lost their meaning to me. It’s not like I don’t like having something to go back to. It’s more that I think I lost track of time when everything went dark. Do you enjoy long walks on the beach? Or maybe watching the scenery while you driving in your car? I don’t. I can’t. But just because I don’t have the will to “enjoy myself” doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to store all the preciousness around me.

The beauty of life, the smell, the color, the sound. I love all of that. Even though I forget it the minute I set my eyes on something else, I still treasure it in my heart. We can’t fully understand how much everything around us change the person we are. And when a memory is forgotten, a new one takes the vacant place. Breathe fresh air my friends, and expel from your heart everything that hurts you. Become a new person everyday without changing who you are. Remember not just the pain but also the happiness, not just what you don’t want to forget but also what you don’t want to miss. Find yourself a new reason to keep going on just like a star, just like a river, just like me.
A collaboration between ~alex-mg and myself, as a part of his series, "Something Like a Memo".

I wrote the first three paragraphs, he wrote the last two, and came up with the idea.

Truly inspirational, your choice of words, and the way you "use" them, really create something powerful, inspirational, I think everyone can feel it when they are reading your poems, you have the talent to put the essence of something across to others, without compromising.
